U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, is set to travel to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman this week. The trip is aimed at continuing discussions with partners regarding the peace process in Yemen and bringing an immediate end to the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
The continued Houthi attacks are a threat to progress towards achieving a durable resolution to the conflict in Yemen. These attacks also obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemenis and people in need across the region.
The United States strongly supports a durable, inclusive peace in Yemen and urges a swift return to UN-led peace efforts. During his visit, Special Envoy Lenderking plans to meet with counterparts to discuss steps that can be taken to de-escalate the current situation and support the Yemeni people.
