The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced details for the 2024 Innovative Housing Showcase, set to take place on the National Mall from June 7-9. The event will feature exhibitors showcasing prototype homes and building technologies aimed at addressing affordability, resilience, and the future of housing.
The showcase is a public event intended to raise awareness about innovative housing designs and technologies that could increase housing supply, lower construction costs, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce expenses for owners and renters. Policymakers, homebuilders, industry professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, media representatives, and the general public are invited to attend.
A preview and press conference with Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4. Educational programming will commence on Thursday, June 6. The opening ceremony of the showcase will take place at 9 am on Friday, June 7.
“When I toured the Innovative Housing Showcase last summer, I saw firsthand how our exhibitors used innovative technologies to build the affordable, resilient homes of the future,” said Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman. “It gives me great pleasure to announce this year’s suite of exhibitors and educational programming.”
This year’s event will include numerous exhibits featuring full-sized prototype homes and demonstrations of accessible building technologies focused on affordability and resilience. This marks the fourth installment of the showcase held on the National Mall.
“HUD and its Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) have supported innovation in housing and building technologies for nearly five decades," stated Solomon Greene, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research.
