WASHINGTON - Today, Adrianne Todman, the Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), issued a statement in commemoration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.
"Pride Month invites us to honor and celebrate the many strides our nation has made to advance the rights of LGBTQIA+ people in the United States," said Todman. "Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, our government has moved to combat LGBTQIA+ discrimination, codified same-sex marriage, and directly addressed efforts to roll back the hard-won rights of transgender people. We have come a long way, but we still have far to go."
Todman emphasized HUD's ongoing commitment during Pride Month: "I reaffirm HUD’s commitment to ensuring LGBTQIA+ people have access to fair and safe housing, as well as our ongoing efforts to prevent and address homelessness, especially among LGBTQIA+ youth who are particularly vulnerable. Our nation is at its best when everyone who calls this country home feels safe, protected, and free to live out their dreams."
