Netflix showcased an array of new animated projects at the Annecy Film Festival, continuing its strong presence in the animation industry. This follows their recent event in Los Angeles, "Next on Netflix: Animation." Over the past five years, Netflix has earned multiple accolades for its animated features, including eight Oscar nominations and one win for Guillermo del Toro’s "Pinocchio," four BAFTA nominations with two wins for "Klaus" and "Pinocchio," and numerous Annie Awards.
During the “Next On Netflix Animation: From Wallace & Gromit To Twilight Of The Gods” panel, several filmmakers presented exclusive clips from upcoming projects. Anna Higgs hosted the panel which featured Alain Chabat and Fabrice Joubert, directors of the French series "Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight." Chabat remarked on his return to the beloved universe created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo: “After the extraordinary experience of making 'Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra'... it is an immense pleasure to dive back into this universe.”
Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham from Aardman discussed their latest project, "Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl," sharing a clip with attendees. They noted Annecy's long-standing support for Wallace and Gromit, stating that there couldn’t be a more perfect festival to preview their new adventure.
Zack and Deborah Snyder also participated in a Q&A about their new series "Twilight of the Gods." Zack Snyder described Annecy as a remarkable showcase for groundbreaking animation. He shared excitement about presenting their Norse mythology-based series at such a prestigious event.
Director Vicky Jenson provided insights into Skydance Animation’s film "Spellbound," expressing her anticipation to present it at Annecy. She highlighted how special this fairytale film is to her team.
Phil Johnston introduced a clip from Netflix's new Roald Dahl project, "The Twits."
