Today, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra released a statement in honor of World Refugee Day.

"Today, on World Refugee Day, we recognize the courage, resilience, and contributions of refugees who have sought safety and a new beginning in the United States. Under the leadership of President Biden, our nation remains a beacon of hope for those fleeing turmoil and persecution across the globe," Becerra stated.

He highlighted the role of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within HHS in supporting refugees through essential services such as resettlement assistance and integration programs. "To further bolster our support for refugees, ORR is offering several grant opportunities aimed at enhancing self-sufficiency, fostering microenterprise development, and building resilience among refugee children and youth," he added.

Becerra emphasized that these services provide immediate relief while paving the way for long-term success and integration into American society.

"As we celebrate World Refugee Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to welcoming and supporting refugees. Their stories of perseverance and success are a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity and the foundational values of our nation. Together, we can continue to build a more inclusive and compassionate society for all," Becerra concluded.
