U.S. Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim Risch (R-ID), James Lankford (R-OK), and thirteen others stated that the executive action granting amnesty to illegal migrants will "throw fuel on the fire" at the border. The statement was made in a letter from the Senators to President Biden on June 21.

"We write today to express our grave concerns regarding your proposal to offer amnesty to illegal aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States," said Crapo, U.S. Senator in Idaho. "This action directly contravenes the laws Congress has passed, and it will throw fuel on the fire of the ongoing border crisis. These actions undermine the immigration laws Congress has passed, and they have eroded the rule of law at our southern border."

According to a press release from Crapo, the letter expressed the Senators' concerns about the recent executive action granting amnesty to illegal migrants. "Parole authority has been unlawfully used to circumvent screening and vetting," said the Senators.

NBC News reported that eight individuals from Tajikistan with ties to ISIS were arrested in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. All of these men crossed illegally at the southwest border and were released after their criminal records were examined.

The letter to President Biden referenced this incident as an example of the crisis at the border. According to the letter, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is unable to properly vet migrants as they cross due to the numbers of crossings.

Crapo has served in the United States Senate representing Idaho since 1999. Prior to his election, he represented Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993-1998.
