The Department of Defense (DoD) announced additional security assistance for Ukraine following a meeting between President Biden and President Zelenskyy. This marks the Biden Administration's sixty-first tranche of equipment provided from DoD inventories since August 2021. The Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) package, valued at approximately $225 million, aims to address Ukraine's critical security and defense needs.

The package includes air defense systems and interceptors, munitions for rocket systems and artillery, and anti-tank weapons. President Biden had earlier stated that the United States, in collaboration with Germany, Romania, the Netherlands, and Italy, would enhance Ukraine's air defenses by providing five strategic air defense systems, including Patriot batteries and SAMP/T systems. These measures are intended to protect Ukrainian cities, civilians, and soldiers.

The specific capabilities in this announcement include:

- One Patriot battery;

- Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS);

- Stinger anti-aircraft missiles;

- Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);

- 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds;

- Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) equipment and missiles;

- Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems;

- Small arms ammunition;

- Demolitions munitions;

- Spare parts, maintenance, and other ancillary equipment.

The United States will continue collaborating with around 50 Allies and partners to ensure that Ukraine's defenders receive the necessary capabilities to counter Russian aggression.
