The United States is set to provide Ukraine with a significant new package of military assistance, as announced by President Biden during a meeting with President Zelenskyy today. This $225 million package will be delivered under Presidential Drawdown Authority and includes a range of weapons and equipment intended to support the Ukrainian military in its ongoing efforts to repel Russia's assault.
Key components of the package include a Patriot missile battery, munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds, Tube-Launched Optically-Tracked Wire-Guided missiles and equipment, Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, small arms ammunition, demolition munitions and equipment, among other ancillary items.
"This support will help strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and reinforce Ukraine’s capabilities across the front lines," said an official statement.
This marks the eighth security assistance package authorized by President Biden to aid Ukraine since signing the national security supplemental appropriations act. The U.S. government has emphasized that this new assistance will be deployed swiftly to bolster Ukraine's defense of its territory and people.
President Biden reiterated the commitment of the United States and its international coalition to continue standing with Ukraine in its time of need.
