BRUSSELS – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), a global tech trade association, has outlined its Vision for the Future of EU AI Policy and the implementation of the EU AI Act. The organization emphasized that supporting AI development and adoption must be a fundamental public policy goal for the EU in the coming mandate.
ITI has proposed four strategic priorities:
1. Successfully implement the AI Act by promoting legal clarity, cohesion of the Single Market, and streamlining overlaps with other digital legislations.
2. Build a successful and ambitious AI Office by promoting transparent and effective dialogue with industry stakeholders.
3. Increase international cooperation on AI by supporting regulatory interoperability and leveraging international standards.
4. Support enablers for AI innovation, including digital skills, data flows, and innovative data storage solutions.
“As the AI Act enters into force, its successful implementation will be key for future EU competitiveness in this technology,” said ITI Senior Policy Manager for Europe Marco Leto Barone. “The EU must now work towards providing much-needed legal certainty in close dialogue with industry, promote global regulatory interoperability, and support enablers for AI innovation.”
