The United States Department of Defense and Singapore Ministry of Defence have signed a Statement of Intent (SOI) to enhance cooperation in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence. The SOI was signed by Dr. Radha Iyengar Plumb, Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer for the U.S., and BG Yew Chee Leung, MINDEF's Deputy Secretary (Technology).
The agreement aims to foster technological collaboration between the two defense establishments, focusing on discussing approaches and exchanging best practices in leveraging data, analytics, and AI efficiently. "Singapore, a key technology innovator in the Asia-Pacific region, remains one of our most valued defense partners and we look forward to further deepening this critical relationship," stated Dr. Plumb.
The SOI outlines key areas for collaboration including quality data management, responsible AI development and use, and talent management. This initiative is seen as an opportunity to strengthen interoperability between the two nations' defense systems and promote values-based global leadership in responsible AI applications within the defense sector.
