CCIA submits comments to DOJ on AI competition

The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) submitted comments to the Department of Justice (DOJ) today regarding competition in artificial intelligence (AI). This response comes as the DOJ examines competition across various industries utilizing AI technologies.

The CCIA's comments address a wide range of issues, including generative AI, which produces content based on user requests, and algorithms that assist with pricing. The association highlighted several new market entrants in generative AI and noted that the market appears dynamic and competitive at present.

For over 50 years, the CCIA has been an advocate for a competitive technology industry.

Krisztian Katona, CCIA Vice President of Global Competition and Regulatory Policy, stated: "With new companies entering the generative AI market and existing laws barring anticompetitive behavior that would harm consumers, we would recommend the DOJ keep watch for now on market developments and innovation. If competition concerns arise in the future that cannot be addressed under existing U.S. antitrust laws, that would be the appropriate time to consider new regulations to address specific concerns that the current framework may not be able to reach."
