On July 12, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Deputy Director Jimmy Kirby participated in a beneficial ownership reporting outreach event in Lakewood, Colorado. The event was coordinated with the office of Representative Brittany Pettersen, a member of the House Financial Services Committee.

This initiative is part of FinCEN’s nationwide efforts to educate potential reporting companies about the Beneficial Ownership Information program. The program aims to gather critical information before the January 1, 2025 reporting deadline for certain entities. This information collection is essential for the U.S. Government's efforts to prevent terrorist financiers, drug kingpins, and other bad actors from using anonymous corporate structures to launder, move, and hide illicit funds within and through the United States.
