Dr. Jarrod Sadulski stated that Mexican cartels are trafficking into the United States using a network of gangs. Sadulski made this statement in his testimony before the Senate GOP Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee on July 9.
"Cartels bring trafficking to the border and rely on a network of gangs to facilitate trafficking within the United States," said Jarrod Sadulski, Expert Witness, according to YouTube.
Criminologist Jarrod Sadulski, along with several others with firsthand experience on the issue, testified before the Senate HELP Committee during a roundtable concerned with discussing the dangers facing unaccompanied minors at the border. According to Senator Chuck Grassley’s opening statement at the discussion, 85,000 unaccompanied children are unaccounted for following their entrance into the United States.
A Congressional Research Service study found that 75-80% of unaccompanied children encountered at the border are victims of trafficking, according to the National Immigration Forum. In Fiscal Year 2019, 72,855 unaccompanied children crossed the border.
In his testimony, Sadulski said that cartels utilize a system of "stash houses" in Mexico and across the U.S. border in order to "exploit trafficking victims." Children are moved from house to house by the cartels in their human trafficking operations.
Sadulski is a criminologist whose research is focused on human trafficking, according to his website. He has testified before Congress and speaks across the country on the subject of human and sex trafficking.
