Netflix announced today that "Senna," the limited series about one of the world's greatest motor racing icons, will be released on November 29. The series also debuted official key art, featuring Gabriel Leone as Ayrton Senna on the racetrack holding the driver's trademark green and yellow helmet.
Over six episodes, "Senna" will depict Ayrton's journey through triumphs, disappointments, joys, and sorrows, revealing his personality and personal relationships. The fictional series starts at the beginning of the three-time Formula 1 champion's motor racing career, from his early karting years to when he leaves home to compete in Formula Ford in England, up to his tragic accident in Imola, Italy during the San Marino Grand Prix.
The limited series features important figures from Senna's life including Alain Prost (Matt Mella), Galvão Bueno (Gabriel Louchard), and Xuxa (Pâmela Tomé). The cast also includes Alice Wegmann (Lilian, Ayrton's first wife), Camila Márdila (Viviane Senna, his sister), Christian Malheiros (Maurinho, a friend), Hugo Bonemer (Nelson Piquet), Julia Foti (Adriane Galisteu), Kazuhiro Muroyama (Soichiro Honda), Marco Ricca (Milton, Ayrton's father), Nicolas Cruz (Leonardo, his brother), Rodrigo Veloso (Flávio, his brother-in-law), Susana Ribeiro (Zaza, Ayrton's mother). Additionally featured are Kaya Scodelario as a fictional journalist Laura; Arnaud Viard as Jean-Marie Balestre; Patrick Kennedy as Ron Dennis; Joe Hurst as Keith Sutton; Johannes Heinrichs as Niki Lauda; Keisuke Hoashi as Osamu Goto; Leon Ockenden as James Hunt; Richard Clothier as Peter Warr; Steven Mackintosh as Frank Williams; Terry Fullerton as Rob Compton; Tom Mannion as Sid Watkins; and Tom McKay as Alex Hawkridge.
Vicente Amorim serves as showrunner and director along with Julia Rezende who also directs. "Senna" is produced by Gullane and created in partnership with Senna Brands and the driver's family.
