Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken welcomed Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh to Washington, D.C., on July 23, 2024, for the launch of a Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue between the United States and Mongolia.
In his opening remarks at the Colin L. Powell Treaty Room, Secretary Blinken expressed pleasure in hosting Foreign Minister Battsetseg and highlighted the significance of Mongolia as a democratic stronghold in its region. "We are proud to be Mongolia’s third neighbor and also very pleased to be able to launch this Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue between our countries," Blinken stated. He emphasized the growing economic resilience and strengthening rule of law resulting from the bilateral relationship.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg reciprocated with gratitude for the warm reception at the Department of State. Reflecting on her return to Washington following last year's visit by Mongolia's prime minister, she noted, "This is first high-level visit between our two countries since we established new government recently and since we established our strategic trade and – Strategic Partnership." She expressed anticipation for fruitful discussions across various sectors, particularly focusing on communication and trade cooperation.
The meeting marks an important step in deepening ties between the United States and Mongolia through enhanced dialogue and collaboration.
