KISSIMMEE, Fla. (August 9, 2024) – On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will announce a $188.3 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to Toho Water Authority in central Florida. This WIFIA loan aims to modernize water infrastructure in Polk and Osceola Counties, enhancing water supply resiliency for over 450,000 residents.

The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act of 2014 (WIFIA) established the WIFIA program, a federal credit initiative administered by the EPA for eligible water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The announcement event will feature Mae Wu, EPA Deputy Assistant Administrator for Water; Cesar Zapata, Acting EPA Region 4 Deputy Administrator; U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09); and Todd Swingle, CEO and Executive Director of Toho Water Authority.

The press event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Toho Water Authority Boardroom located at 951 MLK Blvd in Kissimmee, FL.

Reporters will have interview opportunities following the event. Interested media must RSVP via email to region4press@epa.gov to confirm participation by COB August 10, 2024. Spanish language services will be available at the event.
