Netflix has announced the launch of the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity in Taiwan, aiming to identify, train, and provide opportunities for emerging creative talent from underrepresented communities worldwide. In collaboration with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), a six-week series writing workshop will be hosted for new filmmakers in Taiwan.

Maya Huang, Head of Chinese Language Content at Netflix, stated: "Chinese-language content has been flourishing in recent years, and Netflix is committed to exploring the opportunities within this industry. As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TAICCA, we held a Content Partners Workshop last year. This year, we are thrilled to continue this partnership under the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity. With this initiative, we hope to create a platform for aspiring creators in Taiwan to exchange ideas and best practices and provide learning opportunities to cultivate and elevate creative and varied storytelling.”

Homme Tsai, Chairman of TAICCA, expressed that through this partnership with Netflix, TAICCA aims to strengthen its understanding of the global industry and enhance the commercial viability of Taiwanese content internationally. TAICCA intends to continue nurturing local creative talent and creating more opportunities for global audiences to enjoy quality Taiwanese content.

The NETFLIX X TAICCA Series Writing: Writers' Room Workshop will take place from September 21 to October 26. The workshop will feature renowned screenwriter Hsu Jui-liang (The Victims' Game), Maya Huang (Little Big Women), and Netflix Director of Grow Creative Chris Mack (Special) as guest speakers. Participants will gain insights into series scriptwriting and production from these experienced professionals.

The six-week masterclass course aims to mentor over 40 screenwriters, producers, and emerging filmmakers through sessions on series screenwriting basics, characterization, giving notes, practical training via writers’ workshops, and pitching exercises.

Registration closes on September 8 at 11:59 PM SGT. Successful participants will be notified via email one week before the workshop begins.

Netflix's commitment through the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity is aimed at supporting local creative communities by backing organizations dedicated to fostering an equitable environment in TV and film industries globally.
