Netflix announced today that "The Helicopter Heist" will premiere globally on November 22. Based on true events, the action thriller series narrates the meticulous planning, ingenuity, and nerve involved in executing one of history's most daring crimes. The series delves into the details of this notorious event, exploring how it might have unfolded.
"The Helicopter Heist" is written by Ronnie Sandahl and directed by Daniél Espinosa (conceptual director). It is produced by Johannes Åhlund for B-Reel Films and stars Mahmut Suvakci, Ardalan Esmaili, and Iskra Kostic in leading roles.
The series synopsis describes an early September morning in 2009 when global attention turned to a Stockholm suburb. A helicopter landed on the roof of Sweden’s safest cash depot as police watched helplessly while robbers made off with several million dollars without firing a single shot. The show promises a character-driven and emotional story focusing on themes of brotherhood and fatherhood, alongside a grand tale of high stakes.
Key cast members include Mahmut Suvakci, Ardalan Esmaili, Iskra Kostic, Dejan Milacic, Erik Svedberg-Zelman, Vic Carmen Sonne, Johanna Hedberg, and Wim Elfwencrona.
