The recognition of Mexican cinema and literature within and beyond national borders is well-established, resonating deeply as they reflect the nation's identity. Today marks the celebration of National Day of Mexican Cinema, a moment to reaffirm commitment to Mexican cinema and highlight significant projects such as "Pedro Páramo," a film adaptation of Juan Rulfo's novel. Nearly 70 years after its publication, "Pedro Páramo" remains a cornerstone of Mexican literature with universal significance.

The decision to adapt "Pedro Páramo" for film was approached with great respect, rigor, and commitment. An impressive team of artists and technicians, predominantly Mexican, was assembled under the direction of renowned cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto in his directorial debut. The cast includes Manuel García-Rulfo, Tenoch Huerta, Dolores Heredia, Ilse Salas, Giovana Zacarías, Mayra Batalla, Ishbel Bautista, Héctor Kotsifakis, Noé Hernández and Roberto Sosa among others. The production team expressed gratitude to the Rulfo family for their trust and support.

This feature film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of its Platform programme. It will later be available on Netflix in over 190 countries by year-end. Behind-the-scenes images from this production offer a glimpse into Comala and Mexico.

In addition to "Pedro Páramo," updates on several other film projects were shared:

- **Technoboys**: Premiering on September 11th after more than ten years since Luis Gerardo Méndez and Karla Souza last collaborated. Directed by Gerardo Gatica and Luis Gerardo Méndez.

- **Untamed Royals**: Set for release on August 28th; directed by Humberto Hinojosa featuring Juan Pablo Fuentes and Ximena Lamadrid.

- **The Biggest Fan (working title)**: Directed by María Torres; starring Kate del Castillo and Diana Bovio.

- **Los dos hemisferios de Lucca**: Adaptation directed by Mariana Chenillo starring Bárbara Mori and Juan Pablo Medina.

- **Las Locuras**: A new film by Rodrigo García exploring themes around confinement and self-censorship.

These projects underscore an ongoing dedication to producing compelling narratives that resonate both locally and internationally.
