EPA Region 7 invites the public to an in-person informational session in Wichita, Kansas, aimed at helping communities navigate EPA’s Inflation Reduction Act investments and other new funding opportunities. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The session will focus on EPA’s Community Change Grant program and Environmental Justice (EJ) Thriving Communities Grantmaker Subgrants. These grants provide financing and resources to help communities address environmental pollution and climate change challenges.
This initiative aims to ensure that communities on the frontline of the climate crisis benefit from recent transformative appropriations. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with EJ program staff, ask questions, highlight concerns, and learn more about EJ Grant programs.
The event also offers a platform for community members and organizations to engage with peers, develop or leverage community-based partnerships, and workshop ideas together. Through this event, EPA Region 7 seeks to help communities develop new or deeper partnerships and access historic funding and technical assistance designed for overburdened communities.
Environmental justice is defined as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income concerning environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
Interested parties are encouraged to register by email for the Wichita Informational Session. To allow maximum participation, organizations are asked to limit their representation to one individual.
