PHILADELPHIA (Aug. 27, 2024) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced Khesha Reed as the permanent Deputy Director for EPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program Office (CBPO), located in Annapolis, Maryland. Reed has been serving as the Acting Deputy Director since April 2024, focusing on strengthening administrative processes and acting as a liaison to the Local Government Advisory Committee.

Reed brings over twenty years of experience with the agency, having held several senior leadership positions. Prior to her role at CBPO, she served as the Deputy Director of the Standards and Health Protection Division in the Office of Science and Technology within the Office of Water (OW). In this capacity, she oversaw administrative and budget operations, human capital planning, and led an internal workgroup coordinating with the Food and Drug Administration on fish consumption advice.

Before her tenure at OW, Reed was the Deputy Director of the Office of Children’s Health. This office ensures that all EPA activities consider children’s environmental health issues appropriately. She led strategic planning activities and coordinated external audits for the office.

Reed holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
