An America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released a fact sheet titled "Border by the Numbers" comparing statistics regarding the border to the previous administration, which shows an increase in the smuggling and trafficking of migrant children. AFPI released the fact sheet on August 21.
According to the fact sheet, nationwide encounters with illegal migrants have increased 340% during the current administration, and fentanyl seizures at the border have increased 525%. The number of confirmed or suspected terrorists apprehended at the border has also increased by 2,600%.
According to a study conducted by the Latin American Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, an estimated 60% of migrant children encountered at the border are either captives of cartels or those involved in human trafficking or child pornography.
The America First Policy Institute is a non-profit policy research institute founded in 2021. According to its website, Chad Wolf, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary, serves as Executive Director.
