Border Intelligence Expert: Cartels represent the 'most significant National Security and Public Safety Threat'

Border intelligence expert Jaeson Jones stated that cartels are the "most significant National Security and Public Safety Threat" facing the United States. Jones made this statement in a post on X on August 26.

"the Mexican Cartels represent the most significant National Security and Public Safety Threat to the American People, PERIOD," said Jones.

According to Jones, the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel runs long-haul smuggling operations into the United States, bringing people from all over the world. He told Federal Newswire that migrants desiring entry into the U.S. are often charged anywhere between $500 and $5,000 to be smuggled over the border by cartel operatives.

Jones explained that the cartel's narcotic trafficking operations have been supplied with chemical precursors by China in the past. However, they now also obtain these chemicals from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The cartels have killed 400,000 Mexican citizens since 2007, Jones said. In the United States, 112,000 people died between May 2022 and May 2023 from fentanyl overdose, most of which was manufactured by the cartels and trafficked over the southern border. "It has been far beyond an immigration issue at our border for many decades now, and it's time the American people realize what's happening," said Jones.

Jaeson Jones is a former Captain from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Division, according to his website. He is a border intelligence expert and speaker.
