The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded $66 million to 17 states and territories through its Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Capitalization Grant Program. The RLF assists states in making capital available to fund energy efficiency projects in public buildings.
According to a DOE press release, the recipients in this third round of awards for the program are Arizona ($1,690,280), Georgia ($2,453,810), Iowa ($7,068,920), Texas ($22,365,890), and Oklahoma ($7,592,300).
Under the program supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, states and territories can use the funding to establish or increase revolving funds to issue loans and grants for energy efficiency projects. These can include audits, upgrades, and retrofits that increase energy efficiency and improve the comfort of buildings. The RLF program supports President Biden’s climate goal of reducing emissions by 50 to 52 percent by 2030 and achieving a net-zero economy by 2050.
"Increased opportunities for low-cost financing will help states and territories expand access to the money-saving clean energy tools that will benefit the residential, commercial and public sectors," U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said in the release. "We are excited to see states and territories take advantage of targeted and impactful financing options to transform their communities."
