The Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) hosted the Advana Industry Day today. During the event, industry and government representatives participated in sessions to learn about DoD's plans to mature Advana, the Department's enterprise data and analytics environment. Advana provides DoD users with data from over 400 business systems, along with tools, services, and analytics for data-driven decision-making.
Advana, which stands for "advancing analytics," is transitioning from its current contracting vehicle to a new model via recompete. This change aligns with CDAO's Open Data and Applications Government-owned Interoperable Repositories (Open DAGIR) approach. The recompete aims to drive interoperability, increase vendor competition, and incorporate best-of-breed industry solutions into the Advana ecosystem.
This transition will help scale the platform to meet a broader range of users and needs. The recompete offers an opportunity for a wide cross-section of industry participants to access government data and contribute solutions for solving DoD's challenges.
"The Advana Industry Day is an unprecedented opportunity for industry to get involved in the largest acquisition of digital and AI enabling capabilities in the history of the Department of Defense. This acquisition will support development and scaling of cutting-edge software and AI capabilities from the boardroom to the battlefield," stated Dr. Radha Plumb, CDAO.
The event featured plenary sessions, focused breakout meetings, and networking opportunities. These activities allowed government and industry leaders to discuss continuous improvements for the Advana platform. Speakers highlighted Advana's origin, its relationship with Open DAGIR for scaling data, analytics, AI capabilities; ways contractors can participate in ongoing development activities; and strategies for participating in Advana development.
CDAO "Industry Days" aim to strengthen partnerships and enhance understanding of DoD's technology needs. The Advana Industry Day follows July’s GIDE Industry Insights Forum as part of this year's series.
The CDAO became operational in June 2022 with a mission to integrate and optimize AI capabilities across DoD. It focuses on accelerating adoption of data, analytics, AI within DoD infrastructure to deliver scalable AI-driven solutions against current and emerging threats.
