U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry apprehended a man wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for homicide: negligent vehicular manslaughter. The incident occurred over the weekend when CBP officers encountered the individual in the pedestrian environment.
Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry, commented on the arrest, stating, “Our frontline CBP officers working in the pedestrian environment apprehended a man wanted on a felony warrant for homicide: negligent vehicular manslaughter. Apprehensions of wanted persons for violent alleged crimes like these exemplify the importance of CBP’s border security mission and reflect our continued commitment to keeping our communities safe.”
The suspect, identified as Jesus Alejandro Trevino, 21, a U.S. citizen, was referred for secondary inspection by CBP officers at Gateway to the Americas Bridge on Saturday, October 5. During this process, biometric verification and federal law enforcement databases confirmed his identity and revealed an outstanding felony arrest warrant issued by the Laredo Police Department. Following this discovery, Trevino was transported to Webb County jail for adjudication.
The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) plays a crucial role in sharing information among law enforcement agencies about outstanding warrants for various offenses. Based on NCIC data, CBP officers have previously arrested individuals wanted for serious crimes such as homicide, escape, money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny, and military desertion.
It is important to note that criminal charges are merely allegations until proven guilty in a court of law.
