Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Ms. Amanda Dory, concluded her recent travels to Germany and the United Kingdom, according to Department of Defense Spokesman Lt. Col. Garron Garn, USMC.
During her visit to Berlin, Ms. Dory engaged in strategic discussions with Dr. Jasper Wieck, Political Director at the German Federal Ministry of Defense. The dialogue focused on reaffirming the strong bilateral defense relationship and commitment to NATO. Ms. Dory expressed gratitude towards Germany for its support to Ukraine's defense efforts through security assistance and leadership within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
The discussions also covered key security challenges facing both nations, such as Russia's actions in Ukraine, various Middle Eastern crises, and issues in the Indo-Pacific region. Both parties highlighted the importance of enhancing defense industrial cooperation to boost collective defense and interoperability within NATO.
Ms. Dory then proceeded to London, where she signed a Strategic Policy Roadmap for Trilateral Multi-Domain Cooperation with Paul Wyatt from the UK Ministry of Defence and Henning Vaglum from the Norwegian Ministry of Defense. This roadmap aims to set common standards for Arctic-capable forces, optimize intelligence practices, and promote continuous training and engagements.
Additionally, Ms. Dory held talks with Director General Wyatt and Director General Vaglum about shared priorities concerning their respective bilateral defense relationships.
