Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met with Danish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen at the Pentagon, as confirmed by Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.

During their meeting, Secretary Austin expressed gratitude for Denmark's substantial contributions to enhancing Ukraine's military capabilities and defense sector. The discussions included preparations for the upcoming NATO Defense Ministerial Meeting and strategies for maintaining military support to Ukraine, both through bilateral efforts and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

The conversation also touched on expanding bilateral defense cooperation following the Defense Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2023. Secretary Austin congratulated Minister Poulsen on Denmark’s new Defence Agreement, highlighting its historic increase in defense spending and noting that Denmark will surpass two percent of its Gross Domestic Product on defense this year.
