U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry in Texas have seized narcotics valued at over $681,000. The seizure occurred on October 13 when a CBP officer referred a 2012 Dodge Journey for secondary inspection at the International Bridge in Hidalgo. The vehicle was driven by a 35-year-old male Mexican citizen.

During the inspection, officers discovered packages containing approximately 51 pounds of cocaine within the vehicle. The street value of the narcotics is estimated to be $681,737. Following this discovery, CBP seized both the narcotics and the vehicle.

Port Director Carlos Rodriguez commented on the operation: “This is a significant seizure and reflects the dedication of our officers to advancing our border security mission while facilitating lawful trade and travel."

Homeland Security Investigations special agents have arrested the driver and launched a criminal investigation into the matter.

CBP is recognized as America's largest law enforcement organization, tasked with safeguarding national borders while promoting safe and legal travel and trade. It employs over 65,000 personnel dedicated to protecting U.S. interests on land, air, and sea.
