Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a conversation with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as reported by Spokesperson Matthew Miller. The dialogue centered on the recent death of Yahya Sinwar and the importance of intensifying efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict and secure hostage releases.
Secretary Blinken stressed the necessity for a future plan that would allow Gaza's residents to rebuild their lives without war or Hamas's influence. Additionally, he reiterated the United States' dedication to a diplomatic solution regarding the conflict along the Blue Line, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
The Secretary expressed gratitude towards Qatar for its significant role in mediation and efforts towards achieving lasting peace in the region.
