Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol's San Diego Sector made three notable drug seizures last week in different areas across San Diego. On October 22, around 7:15 p.m., agents inspecting a sedan near San Clemente found 50 packages of suspected cocaine hidden in four duffle bags in the trunk. The vehicle, along with its driver and passenger, was taken to a Border Patrol station for further investigation. The total weight of the seized cocaine was 144 pounds, and it was handed over to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for prosecution.

The next day, on October 23 at approximately 1:00 p.m., agents stopped another suspicious sedan on Interstate 15 near Temecula Parkway. A K-9 team detected potential contraband, leading agents to discover nine packages of fentanyl weighing a total of 22.5 pounds inside a speaker box in the trunk. This case was turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

On October 25 at about 1:30 p.m., agents found more narcotics during an inspection on I-5 when a K-9 unit alerted them to a large duffle bag filled with packages resembling smuggled drugs in the trunk of another vehicle. They extracted 30 packages weighing 73.8 pounds that tested positive for cocaine. These items were also transferred to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Patricia McGurk-Daniel stated, "Thanks to the vigilance of our agents, dangerous narcotics were intercepted before they could poison our communities." She emphasized their commitment to stopping illegal activities.

In Fiscal Year 2024, border patrol agents seized significant quantities of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl within the San Diego Sector's jurisdiction along its border with Mexico.

The U.S. Border Patrol continues its efforts to prevent smuggling through high vigilance across borders and urges people to report any suspicious activities by contacting relevant authorities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recognized as America's frontline law enforcement organization responsible for securing borders while facilitating lawful travel and trade.
