Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken engaged in a conversation with Israeli Defense Minister Gallant, according to Spokesperson Matthew Miller. During the call, Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States' "ironclad commitment to Israel’s security against threats from Iran and Iran-backed proxy groups."

The dialogue also covered the challenging humanitarian situation in Gaza. Secretary Blinken reviewed the measures taken by Israel thus far and advocated for further actions to "substantially increase and sustain humanitarian aid – including food, medicine, and other essential supplies – to civilians across all of Gaza." He stressed the significance of ending the war in Gaza, securing the return of hostages, and establishing a post-conflict strategy that would enable Palestinians in Gaza to rebuild their lives while promoting governance, security, and reconstruction.

Additionally, Secretary Blinken and Defense Minister Gallant discussed ongoing efforts aimed at achieving a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon. This resolution seeks to ensure that both Lebanese and Israeli civilians can safely return to their homes.
