Special Envoy Jessica Stern is set to visit Cape Town, South Africa, from November 8-15. Stern's visit will involve participation in several significant events focused on LGBTQI+ rights and support.
On November 8, Stern will chair the Global Equality Fund partners meeting. This meeting involves a coalition of governments, businesses, and foundations that back programs providing emergency aid to human rights defenders and grassroots LGBTQI+ organizations.
Between November 9-11, Stern will take part in the Global LGBTI Funding Summit hosted by the Global Philanthropy Project. At this summit, she will meet with over 200 global funders dedicated to promoting LGBTQI+ equality and inclusive development.
From November 11-15, Stern will join the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association World Conference. The conference brings together more than 1,900 organizations from over 160 countries and territories. It is expected to attract over 1,000 human rights defenders worldwide who aim to share strategies for addressing threats to LGBTQI+ rights globally and fostering respect for human rights.
