Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez is scheduled to visit Nuuk, Greenland from November 19-21. The purpose of the visit is to engage with Greenlandic government officials, private sector representatives, and research institutions to explore economic and investment opportunities in Greenland's mineral sector.

During his visit, Under Secretary Fernandez will discuss the diversification of critical mineral supply chains and review recent progress within the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP). The discussions will also cover potential scientific and economic cooperation between the United States and Greenland.

A significant part of Under Secretary Fernandez’s agenda includes leading a multilateral MSP dialogue. This dialogue will include both in-person and virtual participation from MSP partners and members of the Minerals Investment Network for Vital Energy Security and Transition (MINVEST). MINVEST is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State and SAFE’s Center for Critical Minerals Strategy. Participants will assess Greenland's minerals sector and examine commercial opportunities presented by local business leaders.

This event highlights Greenland's involvement in the MSP Forum, which facilitates critical mineral projects and addresses policy issues related to mineral supply chains.

In addition to these meetings, Under Secretary Fernandez plans to engage with local research institutions in Greenland to discuss climate change impacts on the region as well as opportunities for scientific collaboration.
