A delegation from the United States government is set to visit Dhaka, Bangladesh, from November 22-25, 2024. The visit aims to bolster economic resilience, stability, growth, and the creation of meaningful and quality jobs in the region. Leading the delegation are Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Kelly M. Fay Rodríguez representing the Department of State and Deputy Undersecretary Thea Lee from the Department of Labor.
The delegation's agenda includes meetings with officials from Bangladesh's Interim Government, private sector garment producers, and labor union stakeholders. They will also engage with representatives from American companies involved in the ready-made garment industry and global labor experts. These discussions aim to find effective ways to support Bangladesh’s economy, democracy, and workforce.
This visit highlights the United States' dedication to promoting economic development, internationally recognized labor standards, sustainable growth, and broadly shared prosperity.
