U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Buffalo arrested a member of the MS13 gang on November 22. The incident occurred when a 24-year-old Honduran citizen, Franklyn Hernandez Giron, made an incorrect turn onto the Peace Bridge and failed to present a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document during primary inspection.
The driver was directed to secondary inspection, where officers confirmed his identity and discovered his affiliation with the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang. "This example of the dangerous individuals our CBP officers encounter highlights the dedication and commitment these officers have to keeping our communities safe," stated Area Port Director Gaetano Cordone. "I’m proud of the work our officers do every day to safeguard America."
Following his arrest, Hernandez Giron was taken into custody by CBP officers for removal proceedings.
