NVIDIA has announced the opening of its first research and development center in Vietnam, highlighting its commitment to advancing artificial intelligence in the country. The new facility will focus on software development and aims to leverage Vietnam's pool of STEM talent. NVIDIA plans to collaborate with industry leaders, startups, government agencies, universities, and students to promote AI adoption.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated, "We are delighted to open NVIDIA’s R&D center to accelerate Vietnam’s AI journey. With our expertise in AI development, we will partner with a vibrant ecosystem of researchers, startups and enterprise organizations to build incredible AI right here in Vietnam."

The R&D center will support innovation by providing platforms for developing AI applications across various sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and finance. This initiative aligns with Vietnam's digital transformation strategy initiated in 2021 that aims to foster innovation and establish a strong AI ecosystem.

Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commented on the partnership: "The government of Vietnam is focused on innovation as one of the key elements of its development strategy. With this strategic partnership, the Vietnamese government and NVIDIA are committed to jointly promoting the strong development of AI technology in Vietnam and creating a bright future for the innovation ecosystem and high-tech industry in Southeast Asia."

NVIDIA has been active in Vietnam's tech scene for eight years. It works with over 100 Vietnamese AI startups through its Inception program and collaborates with 65 universities nationwide. Additionally, last year saw NVIDIA partnering with FPT Smart Cloud as its first cloud partner from Vietnam.
