Tampa, Florida – Jesse L. Anderson, a postal employee from St. Petersburg, has admitted to theft by a postal worker, according to an announcement by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Anderson could face up to five years in federal prison, although the sentencing date remains undecided.

The case stems from a May 2023 complaint received by the United States Postal Service (USPS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) regarding stolen mail that included a credit card and Social Security card. A subsequent complaint was filed in October 2023 about another missing credit card from the same individual. Investigations revealed that Anderson had used the individual's credit card after stealing it during his postal route.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Service – Office of Inspector General and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Erin Claire Favorit and Abigail K. King.
