The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently executed its fourth large-frame charter removal flight to the People's Republic of China (PRC) in less than six months. The operation involved the deportation of Chinese nationals who lacked a lawful basis to remain in the United States. This initiative is part of DHS's ongoing collaboration with the PRC and other international partners aimed at deterring irregular migration through efficient processing and deportation of individuals without legal standing in the U.S.

"DHS is enforcing U.S. immigration laws and delivering tough consequences for those who enter unlawfully or without authorization," stated a spokesperson from DHS. The department emphasizes that it will continue to return individuals lacking legal grounds to stay, while promoting safe and legal pathways for migration. Furthermore, efforts are underway to hold accountable transnational criminal networks exploiting trade and travel systems, as well as preventing smuggling and exploitation.

Following the June 4 Presidential Proclamation on Securing the Border, finalized on September 30 with an updated Proclamation, there has been a significant decrease in unlawful border crossings—over 60% fewer encounters between ports of entry along the southwest border have been reported.

DHS remains actively engaged with global counterparts to facilitate removals of nationals without legal status in the U.S. Since implementing the June 4 Proclamation until November's end, DHS conducted over 740 international repatriation flights to more than 160 countries including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Egypt, Mauritania, Senegal, Uzbekistan, India, and notably China.

In fiscal year 2024 alone, DHS removed or returned over 742,000 individuals—the highest number since fiscal year 2010—and continues efforts to expand removal flights.
