Matthew Frazier, a 51-year-old resident of LaPorte, Indiana, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for possession of child pornography. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty after Frazier was found guilty following a one-day trial, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
In addition to the prison term, Frazier will undergo seven years of supervised release. Court documents revealed that in September 2022, while on probation for previous state court convictions related to child exploitation and possession of child pornography, a search of Frazier's residence led to the discovery of an electronic device containing 18 photos and 18 videos depicting child sexual abuse material.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with support from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Michigan City Police Department. The prosecution team included Assistant United States Attorneys Hannah T Jones and Jerome W. McKeever.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 aimed at protecting children from exploitation and abuse. This program combines federal, state, and local resources to find, arrest, and prosecute individuals involved in exploiting children while also identifying and rescuing victims.
