Jurors in the U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau have convicted a Poplar Bluff man on charges related to methamphetamine distribution. Deshante R. Nabors was found guilty of one felony count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The trial presented evidence that, on August 6, 2020, an officer from the Poplar Bluff Police Department attempted to stop a Ford Fusion driven by Nabors. Instead of complying, Nabors continued driving and discarded a black sock containing methamphetamine from the vehicle. He exited the moving car and fled but was subsequently apprehended.

Upon his arrest, Nabors was found carrying $1,030 in cash and a clear bag with additional methamphetamine. More drugs were discovered within the vehicle.

Nabors, aged 33, faces sentencing on March 18, 2025. The charge carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul Hahn and Christopher Shelton are leading the prosecution.
