Robert Micco Harjo, a resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement following an investigation by the Stilwell Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Harjo pleaded guilty on June 4, 2024. Investigators reported that on December 3, 2023, a law enforcement officer found Harjo with a .22 caliber revolver and over 100 rounds of .22 ammunition. Despite knowing he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison, Harjo was found in possession of these items.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. On May 26, 2021, a violent crime reduction strategy was launched to strengthen PSN with principles focused on fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.

Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. After completing his state sentence term, Harjo will be handed over to the U.S. Marshals Service for transport to a designated federal prison facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick Flanigan and Edith Singer represented the prosecution in this case.
