Thailand has officially joined the Artemis Accords, becoming the 51st signatory during a ceremony held in Bangkok. Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, Executive Director of Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency, signed the accords on behalf of Thailand's government. The event was attended by U.S. Ambassador Robert Godec and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Supamas Isarabhakdi. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson contributed with pre-recorded remarks.

The United States expressed its welcome to Thailand's participation in the Artemis Accords. "The United States and Thailand’s enduring alliance is built on a foundation of diplomatic relations that stretches more than 190 years," stated the release from the Office of the Spokesperson. It emphasized their shared commitment to facing challenges in regions including outer space.

Established in 2020 by the United States alongside seven other countries, the Artemis Accords outline principles for responsible space exploration. With Thailand's addition, a total of 50 other nations have affirmed these principles for sustainable civil space activity.

The Department of State and NASA are responsible for leading U.S. efforts related to outreach and implementation of these accords.
