U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans | U.S. Department of Justice
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Brandon D. Hill, a 32-year-old resident of Boutte, Louisiana, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for federal firearm and narcotics violations. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Barry W. Ashe on December 5, 2024, following Hill's guilty plea to charges of possessing a firearm as a felon and possessing fentanyl, cocaine hydrochloride, and cocaine base with intent to distribute.
The incident leading to Hill's arrest occurred on March 8, 2023. Deputies from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office approached Hill regarding an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation in Boutte. When deputies attempted to detain him, Hill fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and searched. During the search, he attempted to discard two plastic bags from his pocket while deputies seized a Canik semi-automatic pistol with a round in the chamber from his waistband.
Further investigation revealed that Hill was carrying several items: approximately 3.78 grams of fentanyl in one bag; about 17.44 grams of marijuana in another; around 1.15 grams of packaged cocaine hydrochloride in a third bag; and approximately 6.25 grams of cocaine base in the fourth bag.
In addition to his ten-year prison term for the firearm and narcotics offenses, Judge Ashe imposed three years of supervised release on Hill, also concurrent with his sentence duration. Additionally, he must pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee for each count.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities nationwide.
