Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning has expressed approval for the recent passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025 by Congress. The legislation is seen as a significant step in supporting the U.S. defense industrial base.
Fanning stated, "Equipping the warfighter, building capacity, and investing in research and development to modernize our military are key pillars of our national security strategy – and the U.S. defense industrial base relies on Congress to send clear demand signals to do just that. Congress passing this year’s National Defense Authorization Act enables industry to do what it does best: out-innovate, outpace, and outperform our adversaries."
He further emphasized AIA's appreciation for the bipartisan support from Congress and urged President Biden to sign the bill into law promptly.
The AIA highlighted several provisions within the bill that they support, particularly those aimed at improving acquisition and contracting procedures. These improvements are intended to promote domestic sourcing of critical materials and encourage new companies to join the defense industrial base.
