A New York man has admitted guilt in a federal court in Portland, Maine, for distributing controlled substances and possessing them with the intent to distribute. Kenneth Adams, 40, was involved in trafficking significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine from the Bronx, New York, into Maine.

Court records reveal that information from a confidential informant led investigators to uncover Adams' activities. In January 2024, he sold approximately 250 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant during a controlled buy. This transaction was recorded on video and audio while being monitored by investigators. Later in June 2024, authorities executed a search warrant at a Bronx residence associated with Adams. The search resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, around 260 grams of fentanyl, and approximately 780 grams of cocaine.

Adams has a prior conviction from Aroostook County Superior Court in 2016 for unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. Now facing severe legal consequences, he could be sentenced to between ten years and life imprisonment. Additionally, he may incur fines up to $8 million and will face four years to life under supervised release following any prison term.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations.
