The Department of Defense has awarded $253.7 million to Williams International to enhance gas turbine engine production facilities. This funding, provided through the Defense Production Act, aims to increase production capacity for engines needed in various precision strike weapons, including Harpoon and Tomahawk missiles. The initiative aligns with the 2024 National Defense Industrial Strategy's goals to bolster domestic production and secure supply chains.

Dr. Laura Taylor-Kale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, stated, "This effort is a key component of the DoD's strategy to accelerate the capacity and fielding of precision strike weapons to deliver cutting-edge capabilities and options to our armed forces."

The award is financed by the 2024 Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act and Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act 2024. It focuses on expanding critical material production essential for defense against adversarial threats. Williams International will play a crucial role in increasing domestic engine production for military applications, supporting both Air Force and Navy weapon systems.

Mr. Anthony Di Stasio, Director of the Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Prioritization directorate, noted, "This award represents another significant step in strengthening the domestic capabilities of the defense industrial base by investing in strategic capabilities that will help ensure the U.S. remains a leader in manufacturing technologies."

This contract is one of five awarded by the DPAP office across different sectors, totaling $290.8 million since fiscal year 2025 began. The DPAP office operates under the MCEIP directorate within the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Resilience.
