Christopher Barry, a 42-year-old resident of Saratoga Springs, New York, has been sentenced to six years in prison for receiving child pornography. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Barry had previously pleaded guilty to charges that between June 2021 and January 2022, he received child pornography, including images of prepubescent minors. On February 9, 2023, he was found in possession of two phones containing such material. The case involved over 1,500 still images and at least four videos.

United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci ordered Barry to serve a supervised release term of 15 years following his incarceration. He is also required to forfeit the two phones used in the offense and pay $42,000 in restitution to 14 victims. Additionally, Barry must register as a sex offender upon his release.

The investigation was conducted by HSI with assistance from the New York State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping prosecuted the case under Project Safe Childhood. This initiative, launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006, aims to combat child exploitation on the Internet through collaboration among federal, state, and local resources.
