Chicago man receives 10-year sentence for fentanyl distribution

Tido Kirby, a 44-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon following Kirby's guilty plea for distributing fentanyl. This announcement was made by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.

In addition to the prison term, Kirby will undergo six years of supervised release. Court documents reveal that between March and April 2021, law enforcement officials purchased fentanyl from Kirby on three separate occasions in Hammond, Indiana.

Kirby's criminal record includes eight prior felony convictions related to firearms, drugs, and an aggravated fleeing offense. During the period of these offenses, he was under federal supervision.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Toth.
