The Small Business Rundown podcast recently featured U.S. Representative-elect Mark Messmer and Missouri's Governor-elect Mike Kehoe, both of whom are small business owners and members of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). The episode highlights their journeys to political office and their focus on pro-small business policies.
Messmer, representing Indiana's 8th district, emphasized his commitment to influencing policy at the federal level, building on his experience in the General Assembly. "The ability to influence policy that impacts small business at the state level has been a big impact and a big focus of mine during my time in the General Assembly and I intend to move that influence and direction to the federal level," he stated.
Kehoe shared how his involvement with NFIB motivated him to enter politics. "One of the things that got me into politics is my membership at NFIB…I learned a lot about what the government can do to really stifle small business sometimes and what we need to do to create paths for businesses to expand and grow," he explained.
The podcast episode titled "Members’ Paths to Elected Office" provides insights into their plans for supporting small businesses during their upcoming terms.
